Project Description

The Collection (aka Twenty Pine, aka Two Chase Manhattan Plaza), home of Guaranty Trust Company in 1928, was converted to luxury townhomes, designed by Armani Casa in 2004. Our client asked us to add a few finishing touches the original designer overlooked including a custom shower door, a custom sliding wall to create a discrete sleeping area, more lighting plus solar and room-darkening shades. Challenge: Though exceptionally large for a studio (820sf), the home did not offer a discrete sleeping area; lighting relied heavily on lamps; the shower enclosure was a curtain only; and lighting from adjacent office buildings was intrusive at night.

Solution: Taking our cues from Armani’s bathrooms doors, we designed a 10’ wide by 102” tall sliding wall with translucent panels to usher light in from the living room windows. Recessed, adjustable lights were mounted around the perimeter of the home to highlight artwork; a custom, frameless shower door was installed and finally solar shade plus room-darkening shades for night were installed.
