Project Description
Depression-era factory windows were the perfect building materials for a glass wall providing privacy for this Midtown Owner’s Home Office.
Challenge: Residence was rented so architectural intervention needed to be minimal and removable — yet with a feeling of permanence.
Solution: Juxtaposed against the new construction of the apartment, reclaimed 1920’s factory windows provided the building materials for a “sliding glass wall”. The two fixed panels are simply “tacked” to the building structure and provide support for the center panel that slides. Clear acrylic preserves the patina of the depression-era windows. The wire glass provides privacy while allowing light in from the living room windows.
